Greece was always high on my list of places to travel to and I experienced everything it has to offer. Ancient history, beautiful beaches, great food, and the famous Greek Isles. I did a 10 day land tour which hit all the must-see sites and then a 7 day cruise around the Aegean.
In mainland Greece, I traveled to Meteora, Mycenae, Delphi, Olympia, Nauplia, Nafpaktos, Corinth and some other small towns that I’m sure have been there since Homer’s Iliad. The ancient ruins sitting on a backdrop of blue sea and sky are forever etched in my mind. There was a tranquil aspect to the country that made me feel pretty relaxed the entire time.
After visiting Greece’s terra firma, I cruised the Aegean Sea for 7 days. I stopped at Mykonos, Santorini, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes, and Turkey. On some of the islands, I rode an ATV to explore and search for remote and isolated beaches. Mykonos and Santorini definitely left an indelible mark on me. I’d love to return to Greece for an entire month just to soak in the magic of those two islands.
If you’ve never tried Greek Food then do yourself a favor and try it as soon as possible! It's the best food I’ve ever had while traveling. In Athens, a neighborhood called the Plaka district was the epicenter for amazing food and shops. The salads, gyros, cheese, meats, and of course Ouzo… I was definitely getting spoiled.
