Nine Inch Nails - Soundgarden
Sometime around 1996 I got heavily into Nine Inch Nails and it became an obsession for a number of years. I would study the lyrics and music on a daily basis and was really into the dark sound they had. They opened the door to electronic music for me which I still love today.
Nine Inch Nails started in 1988 by mastermind and lead singer Trent Reznor. Their debut album "Pretty Hate Machine" is one of my favorite albums of all time. Songs like "Head Like A Hole", "Terrible Lie", "Down In It", "Sanctified", and "Sin" were on constant repeat. After their debut they released the "Broken" EP and did some songs for movie soundtracks. I remember it wasn't easy to find the bands more obscure songs back in the days when everything wasn't a click away. It felt good hunting down some rare track or video and then playing it over and over again.
Soundgarden are a legendary band from the Seatlle grunge scene of the early 90's. They achieved major success with the 1994 album "Superunknown" which contained the massive hit songs "Black Hole Sun", and "Spoonman".
This was the first time seeing Soundgarden and I was impressed with how good Chris Cornell still sings after so many years. They sounded amazing and I obviously loved all the pyramid imagry in the live show.
