Lynyrd Skynyrd

Lynyrd Skynyrd is best known for thier southern rock hits "Sweet Home Alabama", "Gimme Three Steps", "What's Your Name", "Free Bird", and "Simple Man". The band named themselves after a high school gym teacher Leonard Skinner who was notorious for enforcing the school's policy against guys having long hair.

At the peak of their success, the band lost three members in a plane crash in 1977 but continued recording and touring despite the tragic circumstances. They were inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and continue to tour today.

The show was an intimate performance for less than 1,000 people at Magic City Casino which I had never visited before. I was up close and personal and was also able to meet them before the show. We exchanged a few laughs about my MTV shirt and how bad the channel is today.
