I first discovered Leonard Cohen on the “Natural Born Killers” soundtrack in the mid 1990’s. He had two songs on it called “Waiting for the Miracle” and “The Future” which remain some of my favorites to this very day.
Leonard Cohen is a singer-songwriter, musician, poet, and novelist. He often explores religion, isolation, sexuality, and interpersonal relationships in his music and writings. He is a member of both the Canadian and American Rock n Roll Halls of Fame.
I had been waiting to see Cohen for a few years and finally got the chance when he performed at the James L. Knight center in Miami. His band was spot on and the humility shown by Cohen was inspirational. He also had the Webb Sisters as his backup singers which I had been familiar with previously.
I had seats in the 3rd row and a few people were congratulating me on being "one of the only people under 40 in the audience”. I did find that some of the crowd was a bit snobby for some reason but then again, I’m used to attending rock and electronic festivals. Overall, it was an amazing experience to see a true legend live in concert.
