Jane's Addiction - Stone Temple Pilots - Chevelle - Filter
These photos are from the Rockwave Festival in Ft. Myers, Florida that I felt like I had to attend to see Chevelle and Jane's Addiction. I had actually just met and seen Filter and STP two days earlier which you can see in the "Filter - Stone Temple Pilots" gallery. This is the third time I've seen Filter this year which wasn't planned at all.
Filter opened the show in the early afternoon and had quite a long set with plenty of time to interact with the crowd. They are on tour supporting their new album "The Sun Comes Out Tonight" which is a great album.
Up next was Chevelle who I had never seen before and was honestly still surprised they were still touring since I don't follow them much. They had some big hits on rock radio in the early 2000's with songs like "The Red", and "Send the Pain Below". They also played some obscure but great songs of theirs which have a unique rock sound. I definitly left more of a fan than when I went in.
Third on the lineup was Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park who replaced original singer Scott Weiland because of drug problems and diva behavior. They played some of their classic songs like "Dead and Bloated", "Plush", "Sex Type Thing", "Big Bang Baby", and others. I was glad to see them again and the crowd was really into every aspect of the show.
The headlining act was Jane's Addiction who had big songs like "Been Caught Stealing", "Mountain Song", "Jane Says", and others. Perry Farrell is one of the best rock front-men I've seen, he had total command of the stage and crowd with an interesting persona for everyone to pay attention to also.
