Aerosmith - Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick is mostly known for their hit song “I Want You to Want Me” but they have some other notable songs as well. The thing I remember most was guitar player Rick Nielsen who kept throwing guitar picks every five seconds all over the place. It was a good show overall but I was anxious to see Aerosmith.
I prepared for this show by reading “Walk This Way - The Autobiography of Aerosmith” and also Steven Tyler’s book “Does The Noise In My Head Bother You?”. They were really great reads and it made the whole show that much more enjoyable. I read the entire back story, addiction struggles, ups and downs, and the notorious fighting between “Toxic Twins” Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.
I was surprised that the majority of the audience was sitting down and not really singing along. I don’t know if it was because they were mostly an older crowd or what but I was really surprised. The band sounded good and ran through hits like “Walk This Way”, “Livin’ on the Edge”, “Sweet Emotion”, “Ragdoll”, and others. The highlight for me was when a piano came up from under the stage and they played “Dream On”. Seeing that song performed live was definitely one of the best concert experiences I’ve had.
